These are the tasks for the final weeks of the Spring Term

We are so sorry that you can't be in school right now, but it is the best for everyone!

Here is the work for you to do, but only if you feel well enough to do it.

If you are not sure about any of the tasks, please email your class teacher through the <classname>@orchardjunior.com email address and they will respond as soon as they can.

We are using the National Oak Academy, which is a Government funded initiative to support pupils working at home at this time. We have chosen units of work from there website that fit as best as we can hope for. All the lessons have videos to take you through the learning, and many have worksheets or a quiz - we strongly advise parents to watch this introductory visit so your child can make the most of what's available.

Year 3

English

Make a start on this non-fiction unit about Honey. Start at lesson 1 or do the next five if you started last week.

Grammar

Let's look at different types of sentences this week.

Reading

Have a go at this unit about "Rushing Rivers" or carry on where you got to last week.

Mathematics

We're looking at fractions now. Have a go at the first five lessons here.

History

Look at these lessons on the Romans and choose one or two you have not looked at in class.

As part of computing and ICT, watch this video on how to keep yourself safe online.

Year 4

English

We're looking at explanation texts in class. Do lessons 9 - 14 while you are off.

Reading

"Exploring the Deep" is our text this week to look at.

Mathematics

We're looking at area and perimeter in class. Look at the lessons and have a go at five you think will help you most.

Geography

We're studying Europe in class. Have a go at these three lessons on that unit.

Art

We're designing food this term. Have a go at this lesson about designing a meal.

Computing

Try some of these lessons on using images on the computer.

Year 5

English

We are looking at persuasion in class at the moment.

Reading

We're looking at famous scientific women in non-fiction texts. Try this unit on Mary Anning.

Mathematics

We're looking at percentages in Year 5. Do lesson 10 onwards from this unit.

Science

Thinking like a scientist! Choose to do one or two of these lessons or more if you get really into it!

More History

We're coming towards the end of our unit on Ancient Egypt. Have a go at this lesson that starts to round it all up.

Use this online DT lesson from the Scouts to design and make a catapult. Don't worry if you don't have the exact things - talk to an adult if you have another option.
