We have just had our celebration assembly for our Stars of the Week! Well done to them all!
Year 5
Year 5 have had a visit from the Hampshire Fire Service today to support us in our "Keeping Safe" PSHE unit.
Year 5 Osmington Bay
Final morning.....we are tired but we've achieved so much! Children have overcome fears and challenges and are rightly proud. We are also proud of our children and the way in which they have conducted themselves. Well done Year 5.
See you later! Get your washing machines and showers ready!

The children slept well and enjoyed an amazing cooked breakfast. The weather is dry and they're enjoying their morning activities. This afternoon they have two more activities followed by songs and games around the campfire this evening.
Everyone is fit and well and leaders have already commented on the good behaviour of this group of pupils. We are also celebrating one of our pupil's 10th Birthday, so will be lighting the candles over lunch!

Sports Update
On Wednesday evening, a selection of Year 4s attended an athletics meet put on by New Forest Athletics Club. We stayed until 7pm, running, jumping and throwing against other schools and members of the athletics club who were in Years 4 and 5. Despite being a year younger than many of the other athletes, our teams did incredibly. For many, this was a first experience at a running long jump into the sand pit which was tricky but lots of fun. Our Team 1 was awarded 3rd place in the presentation but the results have come through and we can now see that they actually came second! Very impressive especially considering they were all Year 4s against mostly Year 5s. Well done everyone!
PTFA Update
Thank you so much to the hard work fundraising by our PTFA, We have now taken delivery of our new minibus! Our first outing will be a cross country race next week.

Thanks again to the PTFA.
Year 5 Osmington Bay Trip
The sun is coming through! We have had our lunch and a tour of the site. Our rooms are all happy with their fellow room mates and they have half unpacked. Off to our first activity! Woo hoo.
Year 3 Butser Farm Trip
Year 3 went to Butser Ancient Farm yesterday to end our topic on the Romans. We had a great day looking at the Iron Age houses that were in Britain at the time of the Romans, completing an archaeological dig, building a flint wall, spinning with wool and looking inside a Roman villa.
Sports Update
Into the final! After a convincing 9-0 win in the semi-final yesterday, we wait to hear who the girls will play in the final of the Southampton City Cup. Well done to them all and good luck in the final!
Sports Update
On Wednesday we took two Year 4 teams to Totton Tennis Centre, to compete in the New Forest schools competition. After developing and practicing their skills before Easter in PE, it was great to see the children showcase what they have learned in a competitive environment.
A very enjoyable afternoon which saw both teams progress into tier 2 of the competition, with our 'A' Team claiming the gold medal in that tier. Congratulations everyone and well played!
On Tuesday our talented Year 5&6 Sportshall Athletics team competed in the County Finals in Aldershot, for the first time since the competition began. With outstanding drive and determination the children performed at an extremely high level, with many achieving personal bests in their individual events. Competing against 16 other qualifying schools from all over the county we are very proud to have finished second and earn the silver medal! Congratulations to all our athletes, everyone at Orchard Junior School is very proud. Well done!
Year 5 Build a Book Day
Today a few of our Year 5 Pupils spent the day at Noadswood for a Build a Book Day. They were joined by Published Author Stewart Ross and they created their own books. They have had a fantastic day!
Year 6 Bikeability
Today marks the end of our Year 6 Bikeability Week! We are so proud of all our Year 6's who have achieved either their Level One or Level Two.
The team were really impressed with how well they have done.
Year 3 Roman Day
On Tuesday, Year 3 had a fantastic day at Noadswood learning about the Romans. We loved listening to the Roman reenactor, we made delicious Roman biscuits and we made ink so we could practice writing Roman numerals.
Sports Update
On Friday 8th March our outstanding Girls Football teams represented the New Forest area at the Hampshire Finals, after an excellent qualifying round in February seeing both teams finish 1st and 2nd the New Forest. An achievement alone that made us extremely proud.
Friday's Hampshire event was a step up in competition, both teams started superbly, finishing their respective groups undefeated.
Orchard Whites went on to qualify for Tier 2 (Championship) after 5 draws in round one. They continued in the second half of the tournament being hard to beat, showing great defensive awareness and team work. Narrowly missing out on the semi-finals. A team made up of mostly Year 5's the future is bright for Girls Football at Orchard.
Orchard Greens powered through their first round group with 5 wins and 5 clean sheets from all 5 matches! This form continued into round two where they qualified for Tier 1 (Super League), where Orchard Greens qualified for the semi-finals with two games to spare finishing top of their group with 4 wins from 5 games.
Into the semi-finals, drawn against a very well organised team in Western Primary School. After a tight game it took penalties to separate the two sides. Layla making two great saves and successful penalties from Sophie and Jana, booked Orchard Greens a place in the final.
Unfortunately, the final proved to be one game too many. Against a physical side the girls competed bravely and gave everything they had left. Orchard Greens bring home a very well earned the silver medal, congratulations girls!
A fantastic day of football, incredible performances and effort from all Orchard players, who should all be very proud of their individual and team performances, well done!
Year 5 - Ancient Greece
Year 5 pupils are learning about the origins of democracy in Ancient Greece. To support our understanding of how our local council works, Year 5 were visited by Malcolm Wade today. Malcolm clearly explained what his role involves and talked through some of the key issues in the area at the moment.
We were really proud of the way in which the children listened and by the quality of some of their questions. Malcolm talked about a new play area that is going to be developed in the Navy Fields near to Shore Road. We are exploring opportunities for how our pupils can be involved in the planning process, expressing their views regarding what kind of things children would really enjoy. Watch this space!
