OUR LIBRARY

Here at Orchard Junior School we believe that reading is an essential and lifelong skill. Our school library is available for all pupils to use throughout the day with classes also having dedicated time each week to browse the books with their class teacher.

All pupils are expected to read aloud to parents at least three times a week and record this in their reading journal therefore we have a wide range of genres for the children to choose from.

As well as our physical library in school all pupils have access to our online library. This can be easily accessed through the school website using your child’s Purple Mash login details.

All the Fun of the Book Fair!

The book fair is now in school for the children to browse with their classes at different allotted times. Below are the instructions on how to order the books.

  1. Children will be able to come to the library and browse the books on offer over the course of the week. They will each be given a Wish List form where they can write down any books that they would like to buy.

  2. They will take their list home with them and you can then go onto the Scholastic website using the following link https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay  Click on the section that says ‘I am paying for books from a wish List’ and complete your details. You will then be able to pay for the books that your child has selected.

  3. Once payment is complete let me know your order reference and details of the books by email helen.blockwell@orchardjunior.com,  and I will arrange getting your brand new books to you.

Please ensure orders are placed before midday on Monday 18th October

The more books purchased through our fair the more free books for our school.

We have recently created the school’s first Amazon wish list. Due to restrictions we have been unable to run any fundraising events this year and so we are turning to our community to help us out.

We’ve decided to use this system to list the books that have been requested by the children, relating to topics that the children will be learning about or to replace books that are looking a bit tired.

Simply click on your child’s year group link below and browse away! Feel free to choose and send books at any time and to leave a message but remember to select the school’s address for delivery at the checkout.
