YEAR SIX

Week beginning: 8 JUNE 2020

You are working so hard and making us so so PROUD – keep it up and DO NOT forget to look at your PURPLE MASH emails – this is where we communicate with you.

  • 3x Literacy lessons – 1 of them is a SPaG lesson where you will be given your new spellings for the week and then 2 literacy sessions

  • Guided Reading x 3 sessions or 2 Purple Mash tasks

  • 3 x Maths lessons – 1 session will be arithmetic and the other 2 will be subject specific. There will also be an EXTENSION task for the ch who want the challenge.

  • REMEMBER, We shall set the tasks and you do the tasks that you want, whether it is 2 or all 4 geography, PE, PSHE, Art and DT will be set weekly too.

  • SATs BUSTER BOOK  - do these when you want to fill your time

Much of your home learning for Literacy and Guided Reading is about chapters from this excellent book. You need to refer to different chapters for different tasks. Here are the chapters you'll need.

Overview:

Day 1 : SPAG lesson – DETERMINERS – Look at the PowerPoint and understand Determiners then answer the range of SPAG questions linked. Answers at the end of the task.

Day 2:  Read Chapter 3 then read the task sheet for information of the tasks we'd like you to do. Then read Chapters 4+5.

Day 3: Read "Chapter 6: We go to the Eye" and  the first page of Chapter 7. Look at the language used. Find idioms and other use of figurative language within the text and explain what they mean figuratively and literally and why the author uses them.   See task sheet for more details.

This week we will be looking at some more measurements.  No rulers this time as we will be looking at weight and capacity. These tasks are quite practical! Hope you enjoy them!

Music: Musical portraits – Mrs Beton has set a task for you to look at. Click on the man with the funny moustache and all will be revealed.

History: Complete and present your research on your chosen Monarch from History. Click on the crown to remind you of your task.

Here you will find your class blog from which you will be able to contact your teacher and members of your class.
