YEAR FOUR
Thursday 7th and Friday 8th January
Hello Year 4! We are looking forward to introducing you to our new Gepgraphy topic called, ‘Destination Europe’ but before we travel there, we will be exploring the United Kingdom.
For the rest of this week, there will be some Maths and Literacy to complete as well as an introduction to an extended learning project.
If you are at home, we are really excited to see the work you produce each week so please send us photos of your work and keep in contact through Purple Mash.
Your parents can come to school and collect some exercise books for you to work in if they would like to. If you or your parents have any questions, please contact us via Purple Mash or the class email.
We would love to see you practising your times tables on TTRS and we will check in and see how you are all doing!
Day 1:
For your final task about the island, you will need to create and describe a new species of animal that you have discovered on your island! Look at the task sheet for some ideas. Please send a photo of your work to your class teacher or put it on the blog.
LITERACY
Day 2 - Spellings:
Your spellings this week will be emailed to you and there is a quiz on Purple Mash. If you would like to do some more work, then why not try writing these words into sentences.

Numeracy
This week we are going to recap addition and subtraction calculations. You will need to read the word problems carefully and work out whether to add or subtract. There are two sets of word problems – Set A is easier than Set B. You can choose to do one set or both sets. When you are finished, use the honesty card to check your work. There is a short video to remind you how to calculate.

other tasks to do
Here are some other tasks for you to do as and when you get the chance.
Art:
In art, we will be starting a project about heraldry. First, you will need to look through the PowerPoint. Then you will need to create a list of symbols and signs you could use for your own design that relate to your family.

Food fact of the week: Apples
While the belief that an apple a day will keep the doctor away might not be listed as fact in medical journals, apples certainly make for a healthy snack. They're loaded with antioxidants, fibre, and vitamin C, and they're a naturally sweet alternative to junk food!
So... How did you do?
